For All Eternity, the latest addition to the Facedown Records roster, has just released their powerful new album Metanoia.
This release from the Sydney- based melodic metalcore band follows a self-titled EP in 2009, and 2013 full length, Beyond the Gates.
Metanoia is an immersive album; catchy yet aggressive metal unfolding in a sonic cosmos of sound and emotion.
“Remove the Pulse” is a dramatic intro to the album. With some sick drumming, striking guitar work, and at the unmistakable line “rip your heart from your chest,” this band had my full attention. The title track is almost frighteningly good. “Metanoia”‘s vocals – both cleans and screams – are killer. This is a great example of how variety in style of heavy vocals brings thought provoking lyrics to life.
“Unharness” features metalcore heavyweight Mattie Montgomery (For Today), who brings a seasoned ferocity. This is one of the heavier songs along with “White Flame” which seems to borrow a bit from the For Today playbook. “White Flame” is heavy right out of the gates and a standout favourite of mine.
For All Eternity does break into some calmer territory but without losing their edge. “Mountainside” is a minute long cinematic departure driven by quiet piano under a layer of gravelly hardcore vocals. Similarly, “Stitched in the Same” exhibits the band’s multifaceted approach by incorporating more electronic elements and allowing the clean vocals to carry the track. Guest vocals on this track are provided by Kyle Tamosaitis (ex- Burden of a Day). Nearing the end of the song the heaviness is dialed up as the emotion builds.
For All Eternity brings a melodic heaviness, perfectly blending clean and hardcore vocals in the same vein as Memphis May Fire. This band needs to come over next summer because they would dominate Warped Tour.
For All Eternity’s Metanoia abounds with rich ambient atmospheres, searing vocals, and gripping musicianship.
All in all, a breathtaking album – Metanoia will blow you away.
